The Place's History

The Heggedal Retreat Center was acquired in 2013 by the former traveling teacher, Martin Borg, who moved in with his family at that time.

Heggedal Retreat Center

Lama Ole inaugurated the center in October of the same year, establishing it as a national meeting point for Diamond Buddhism in Norway. Since then, the center has served as a hub of activity and inspiration. Over the years, the center has evolved significantly and became a property of Norway’s Diamond Way organization in 2020, following a generous donation by Martin Borg and his family.

Today, four residents live in the center. Together with friends from across Norway and other countries, we work collaboratively to unlock the potential of this beautiful location. Among other projects, our primary objective is to renovate the main house and the annex. In the future, we also plan to construct retreat huts for secluded meditation retreats.
